Between 5% and 10% of all pregnancies are complicated by hypertensive problems. The pathogenesis of hypertension during pregnancy is still unknown. Systolic blood pressure above 140mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure above 90mmHg are the most prevalent physical exam results in both chronic and pregnant hypertension.
