Description
"Coming to rest unintentionally on the ground or lower level, not due to an acute overwhelming event" (such as a stroke, seizure, or loss of consciousness) or an external event to which any person would be susceptible is the standard definition of falls in the outpatient setting. The quality of life of older adults is seriously threatened by falls, which frequently result in a decline in self-care skills and engagement in social and physical activities. Independent of injury, fear of falling, which affects 20% to 39% of people who fall, can cause further activity limitation. Distinguished Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Febi Eapen will take us through the Assessment and Management of Falls in this session.
